Our Story

Venom FC is the Competitive Travel Club of the Four Corners Youth Soccer League. Venom FC was started in 2002 with just one team FC Venom Red, a U-10 Girls team. VFC is the brainchild of Mike Bradshaw, Mark Wilmer, and Alison and Nigel Goff. The Goff’s moved to Farmington from Pittsburgh, PA in 2003, by way of Johannesburg, South Africa, by way of Great Britain. Both Alison and Nigel were born in the U.K. They came from a competitive club structure at PA West called Seneca Valley Soccer. Alison was the U8 Girls Commissioner of Seneca Valley. They were surprised to see that the Four Corners did not have a competitive club structure to offer the upper level players in the league and also to the High School age player during the spring. After creating lasting bonds with both Mike and Mark, Nigel became the Third Amigo. Mike, Mark and Nigel are commonly referred to as the Three Amigos in the Four Corners area. Mark Wilmer is also from outside the Four Corners. Raised in Texas, Mark and family come to Farmington by way of Anchorage, Alaska. Mark and Mike coached the first competitive team in VFC history, Venom FC ’93 Red, in 2003. This was a U-11 Girls tournament team that only practiced together before tournaments. The team was successful in bringing the majority of the top talent in the Four Corners onto one team for that age group. However, all of the players on the team had to play with their recreational team for the majority of the time during each season. This left Mike and Mark wanting more time with these top level players. This was the initial thought that led to the founding of Venom FC. Why can’t we provide a top level club setting in the Four Corners? Nigel and Alison were instrumental in the planning and implementation of the Club. Through many meetings at the Venom HQ, a.k.a. the Goff Residence, A plan was formulated to bring a proposal to the FCYSL Board of Directors. To the great delight of the Founding Four, FCYSL was agreeable to the formation of the Club. In February of 2006, the FCYSL General Meeting voted overwhelmingly to approve Venom FC as the competitive club of the League. Venom FC’s club motto is “VICTORIA CONCORDIA CRESCIT” or Victory grows through harmony. This was chosen by the Founding Four to represent the Club’s main goal of uniting the best players in the FCYSL under one banner to represent the League all over the State of New Mexico. Venom FC is in its first year as an officially recognized Club. They have registered their own players this year to the tune of 80 for the Fall Season. Venom FC hopes to add U-15 and U-18 Showcase teams to the Girls program for the Spring. With eyes towards adding equivalent teams to the Boys Program in the Spring of 2008. Currently Venom FC consists of four Girls teams, Venom FC ’94 Red and White, Venom FC ’95 Red, and Venom FC ’96 Red. There is currently only one Boys team, Venom FC ’94 Red, but they are already one of the Top teams in the State. Venom FC’93 Red will come back in the Spring season also. Stay tuned, as each weekend, more history is made for Venom FC!
